How Can I Create and Manage API Keys?
If your organization uses a PatSnap Enterprise API or MCP license, an API Administrator can create and manage API keys from the PatSnap Open Platform at open.patsnap.com.
This article explains the requirements for creating API keys, how administrators can create and manage keys, and how API key requests from other users are handled.
Before You Begin
To create a new API key, you will need:
- Access to open.patsnap.com.
- An active PatSnap Enterprise API or MCP license.
- API Administrator access for your organization's OpenAPI solution.
Trial users cannot currently be assigned an API Administrator. Trials start with a single API key that can be shared for testing.
If your organization has an Enterprise API license but you do not know who your API Administrator is, contact your PatSnap Account Manager or help@patsnap.com.
They can help identify your organization's current API Administrator or arrange for an administrator to be assigned.
Create a New API Key
If you are an API Administrator with an Enterprise API or MCP license, you can manage your organization's API keys from the PatSnap Open Platform.
- Go to open.patsnap.com and sign in.
- Click your account icon in the upper-right corner.
- Select API Keys.
- Open the area for managing your organization's active API keys.
- Use the available option to create a new API key.
From the API Keys area, administrators can view active API keys and manage existing keys.
You can deactivate an active key or permanently delete a key when it is no longer required.
Deleted API keys cannot be restored. Make sure the key is no longer required before permanently deleting it.
The Requests tab contains API key creation requests submitted by colleagues who do not have API Administrator access.
As an API Administrator, you can review these requests and choose to accept or delete them.
