Bio Antibody R&D Module: How to use
The Antibody R&D module in PatSnap Bio allows users to input any antigen of interest and explore validated antibody-antigen relationships curated from patents and non-patent literature. This walkthrough will guide you through performing a search, filtering results, exploring sequence-level insights, and integrating deeper context across organisms, drug development, and competitive intelligence.
Step 1: Start with your antigen
On the module homepage, enter your antigen of interest using a gene/protein name, UniProt ID, or keyword.
You’ll see your recent searches displayed below the search bar (up to 200 saved per account).
Click Search to proceed.
Step 2: Explore antibody pairings
The search results display validated antibody–antigen pairings sourced from patents and PDB entries.
For each pairing, you’ll see:
-
Source document
-
Antigen name + UniProt ID
-
Antibody sequence metadata, including:
-
Heavy and light chain sequence codes
-
Sequence IDs
-
Use the filters on the left to refine by:
-
Antigen name
-
Source type (e.g., patents, PDB)
-
Species (e.g., Homo sapiens)
Clicking a sequence code will take you to detailed sequence records.
Step 3: View antigen detail for biological context
Selecting an antigen (e.g., TREM2) opens a rich biological profile — this includes:
-
Synonyms and target overview
-
Link to antibody-antigen relationships
-
Clinical trials, literature, and patent trends
-
Organism-specific details
This is particularly useful for R&D teams validating targets or exploring cross-species applications.
Step 4: Investigate drug pipeline data
Click the Drug tab to review therapeutic programs targeting this antigen.
You’ll see:
-
Pipeline phase (e.g., Phase 1, Phase 2)
-
Originating organization (e.g., Alector, Amgen)
-
Associated sequences, if available
This helps place your antibody discovery in the context of competitive activity and clinical momentum.
Step 5: Access antibody sequences
Use the Sequence tab to browse and copy subject sequences linked to your antigen.
You’ll see:
-
Sequence codes (grouped by organism)
-
DNA sequences in a scannable format
-
A quick-copy button for each entry
Use this section to retrieve sequences for further alignment, custom analysis, or wet-lab validation.
