This guide walks you through how to turn a raw idea into a stronger, more novel invention using Patsnap Eureka’s Idea Validation Module. You’ll learn how to input and refine your concept, instantly compare it against existing patents, and uncover similar technologies using AI-powered semantic analysis. From there, you can explore detailed results, identify overlaps, and iterate on your idea in real time—before saving insights, organizing your findings, and generating polished reports to share with your IP team.
 

• Welcome to the session on Patsnap Eureka's Idea Validation Module.
  
  Purpose: To support teams during the early ideation stage.
  
  Main goal: Elevate the novelty of an invention before moving forward.
• Click directly into the Idea Validation module.
  
  Understand how to use it and who it is designed for.
• Input your concept to compare against existing technologies in the Patsnap database.
  
  Identify overlaps and refine ideas.
• Select a jurisdiction for your search.
  
  Specify patent status (active, pending, undetermined, PCT designated stage).
• Fill in two text boxes:
  
  Technical Approach (mandatory, at least 50 words): Describe the problem your invention solves and how it works.
  
  Technical Effect (optional): Provide additional context on outcomes or benefits.
• Pre-fill the boxes and click the compare button.
  
  A split screen will show similar patents based on your inputs.
• The right side displays patents similar to your technical approach and effect.
  
  Results are ranked based on semantic similarity (top 20 most relevant patents).
  
  Scoring structure:
  
  80%-100%: Red
  
  60%-80%: Amber
  
  Below 60%: Green.
• Delve into similar patents for complete summaries, descriptions, claims, and images.
  
  Hover over orange text for similarities to your description.
• Options to batch save or generate a report.
  
  Batch save allows saving data in a workspace environment.
• Create an overarching folder and subfolder for your research.
  
  Confirm to save your data in the workspace.
• Click generate report to share with your IP team.
  
  Customize the report by adding patents to the roster.
• Choose between PowerPoint or Word format for the report.
  
  Review technical approach, technical effect, and similar patents.
• Option to re-compare by adding new words or phrases to your technical approach or effect.
