Advanced Search Syntax

You’ll explore tools like the search and keyword helpers to expand your terms, then refine your results using wildcards and position connectors. By the end, you’ll understand how to structure more precise and targeted searches using advanced syntax.

- Locate the Search Helper tab at the top of the screen.
Click on the Search Syntax tab to find information on wildcards and position connectors. - Start with a basic search for 'phone' and 'screen'.
Utilize the keyword helper to find synonyms like 'display' and 'LED screen'.
Submit the keywords to format them correctly with brackets. - Remove quotation marks to use wildcards.
Introduce asterisks (*) to replace zero to infinite characters (e.g., electr* for electricity, electricals, electrical etc.).
Use hash (#) to replace one or zero characters for plural terms (e.g., screen# for screen and screens). - Explain the need for specifying relationships between keywords.
Use position connectors to ensure keywords appear closely together.
Example: Use $PARA to require keywords to be in the same paragraph. - Add another position connector $W0 to specify that keywords must appear consecutively.
