Learn how to stay up to date on critical patent activity with email alerts. In this video, you’ll discover how to set up automated alerts for new patent publications, legal status updates, expiry dates, litigation activity, and more, helping you monitor competitors, technologies, and portfolios without constantly rerunning searches. We’ll walk through how to create alerts from searches or workspace folders, customize exactly what you want to track, manage delivery preferences, and organize all your alerts in the Alerts Management Centre. Whether you’re tracking innovation trends or managing large patent portfolios, email alerts make patent monitoring faster, smarter, and more efficient.
- Email alerts help you stay updated on important patent activity without manually checking searches or folders.
They can notify you about events such as:
New patent publications
Legal status changes
Citations
Licensing or litigation activity
Upcoming expiry dates
This is especially useful when monitoring competitors, technologies, or large patent portfolios. - PatSnap Analytics lets you create email alerts in two main places:
From the search results page after building a search query
From a workspace folder under the update/alert area - In a workspace folder, go to the Update and Alert tab.
Select the option to create an email alert.
This opens the alert configuration screen where you can customize the alert. - Give the alert a clear title.
Choose the types of updates you want to receive.
Example alert types include:
New patents matching the search query
Legal status changes
Upcoming expiry dates
Use the available options to tailor the alert to the information that matters most to you. - If any alert option is unclear, hover over the info icons.
The tool provides written explanations of what each alert type means.
This helps you choose the right alert criteria with confidence. - Scroll to the Alert Settings section.
Decide who should receive the alert by entering email addresses.
You can include yourself and collaborators.
Set how often the alert should be sent:
Daily
Weekly
Monthly
Choose whether to receive alerts even when there are no updates. - If you have several alerts, use the centralized management area to keep them organized.
In the Analytics platform, open the left-hand sidebar and click Alerts.
This takes you to the Alerts Management Centre. - In the Alerts Management Centre, you can see all alerts created in Analytics.
For each alert, you can review:
When it was completed
When the next alert is due
When it was created
Use the edit pencil to modify alert settings.
You can also disable or delete alerts you no longer need. - Email alerts automate patent monitoring and save time.
They reduce the need to rerun searches or manually check workspace folders.
They are useful for tracking competitors, technologies, and portfolio activity in a more streamlined way.
