How to Use the File Wrapper in Patsnap
- Open a patent document in Patsnap.
Select File Wrapper to view the prosecution history.
The File Wrapper is the written record of communication between the patent applicant and the patent office. - File Wrappers can contain many documents and be time-consuming to review manually.
Patsnap organizes and summarizes the most important information.
This makes it easier to quickly understand the file history and current status of a patent. - Use the File Wrapper Alert at the top of the page to get notified when new documents are added.
Choose the information fields that matter for the document’s jurisdiction.
Decide who should receive the alert and how often it should be sent. - Use Prosecution Claims History for U.S. documents if you have an Analytics Premium subscription.

In the top-right corner, use the direct link to the Patent Office source data. - The Summary of File Wrapper is available for U.S. documents.
